Lewisville Hedrick House Renovation
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
This project is a historic renovation of a landmark residence deeded to the City that had been renovated and used without recognizing its historic significance. The City Council agreed with the Parks and Recreation team that its mid-century modern architectural character should be restored.
Careful research and thoughtful materials selections went into the design, which was guided by the City’s stakeholders to insure it continued to function as an effective event space for weddings and conferences.

UNIQUE PROJECT CHALLENGES
Balancing the historically accurate design with the limited budget required multiple alternates to be considered.
COVID-19 impacts made meetings and design decisions more complicated.
Planning for rapidly rising costs in the marketplace and supply chain impacts required flexibility.
Aggressive strategies were needed to get contractors (and then subcontractors) interested in a small project with standard City bonding and insurance requirements.
