Denton Public Safety Bond Projects

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

This upgrade to the Police Department’s infrastructure was long overdue when the voters showed their resounding support for these new facilities in November of 2019.

UNIQUE PROJECT CHALLENGES

  • These are 3 simultaneous projects on 2 sites, complicating logistics.

  • COVID lockdowns and supply chain issues hit the team hard.

  • Kept the Police Department (including Dispatch) operational in the existing building.

  • One site was expanded by 40% (land acquisition) after the design was set.

  • The 911 Call (Dispatch) Center was also expanded to absorb new coverage area.

  • Sustainable design and exterior skin options were explored in detail.

  • The project’s budget handled these impacts, based on PPV’s prior experience with budgets & process for PD HQs.
